About The Efraimson-Sutphen Cancer Support Fund

This fund provides financial assistance for the daily living needs of patients undergoing treatment. The diagnosis of cancer for most patients also means the loss of income and the sudden increase in expenses not covered by insurance. Essentialliving expenses can become burdensome during this time. The Efraimson-Sutphen Cancer Support Fund honors two young men, Jon Efraimson and Bill Sutphen, through their efforts and wishes to help patients during this trying time.


A Cancer Support Fund that Helps Patients Everyday.

The Efraimson-Sutphen Cancer Support Fund provides emergency financial assistance to patients and families who are unable to afford basic expenses while undergoing cancer treatment. Eligible expenses include:

  • Housing
  • Daycare
  • Groceries
  • Transportation
  • Utility bills
  • Other essentials

After meeting the approval of the Shaw Regional Cancer Center, the advisory board directs 100 percent of the Efraimson-Sutphen Cancer Support Funds directly to the patient and their family under the auspices of the Vail Valley Medical Center Foundation
